Baja Designs FAQ's
Lens color
Clear: Provides daylight-like illumination (5000K LEDs), reducing fatigue and improving terrain visibility.
Baja Amber: Designed for off-road conditions like dust, rain, snow, or fog, minimizing glare and enhancing visibility.
Factory Amber: Matches OEM running lights, ideal for low-visibility conditions to improve depth perception while reducing glare.
Which Beam Pattern should I Get?
- Driving Combo: Maximum trail coverage in a single light. The Driving/Combo pattern is equipped with both wide cornering (42°) and Spot (9°) optics to provide you with a smooth blend of light for both near field applications and distance (Lighting Zone 3)
- Wide Cornering: BD was the first to develop a pattern specifically for cornering, dust and/or fog conditions. The Wide Cornering pattern offers a 42° flattened horizontal beam for the ultimate in comfort lighting. (Lighting Zones 1 & 2)
- Spot: A longer and narrower 9° beam focus for illumination further down the trail or road. The Spot pattern is designed to be used in conjunction with additional Wide Driving and/or Driving/Combo beam lights. (Lighting Zone 4 & 5)
- Flood: Excellent work light or “scene light” with an extremely smooth 60° circle that projects about 60 ft). This pattern is not suitable for driving. (Lighting Zone 7)
Are Baja Designs lights street-legal?
Some models, like the Squadron SAE, are designed to meet SAE J583 fog lamp requirements and are street-legal. However, many off-road lights are not legal for on-road use unless specified. Always check local regulations.
What is and Upfitter Harness?
An Upfitter from Baja Designs refers to their Upfitter Wiring Harness, a product designed to simplify the installation of their LED lights on vehicles equipped with factory upfitter switches (commonly found in vehicles like Dodge, Ford, and Jeep).
This harness integrates Baja Designs lights with the vehicle’s existing upfitter switch system, allowing easy control without complex wiring modifications. It’s also compatible with aftermarket switch panels like Switch Pros or sPOD. For setups using multiple lights (e.g., two Squadron, S2, or S1 lights), a splitter may be required.
